m.v. Flinterrebecca delivered

On the 4th of December 2008 the dry cargo vessel "Flinterrebecca" has been delivered to her owner C.V. Scheepvaartonderneming Flinter Rebecca, a company allied to Flinter B.V. in Barendrecht, Holland.

After succesful seatrials on 2nd of December the “Flinterrebecca” has been handed over to her new owner in Harlingen. The homeport of the Flinterrebecca is Rotterdam

The vessel will be mainly deployed in North Western Europe and Mediterranean for all kinds of dry cargoes. The vessel is suitable to carry containers as well. The cargo brokerage will be carried out by Flinter B.V.

The propulsion of the Flinterrebecca is by a MAK 6M25 engine of 1800 kW @ 750r.p.m., driving a controllable pitch propeller of 3000 mm. via a reduction gearbox. The fuel of the main engine is heavy fuel oil (HFO 380 cSt.), for the auxiliary engines and thermal water boiler the fuel is gasoil.

The hold of 72 meter is box shaped and equipped with two movable bulkheads.

The Flinterrebecca is built and classified by Bureau Veritas with the following notation:
Class I + Hull + Mach general cargo ship – Unrestricted navigation + AUT-UMS  MON-SHAFT Heavy cargo 105 kN/m2, nonhomload 150 kN/m2 (max. Block length 5 m; minimum spacing between blocks 2m.) strengthbottom. Dutch flag

Furthermore provisions are made to carry certain categories of dangerous cargoes.

The Flinterrebecca is the first of two identical dry cargo vessels for Flinter B.V. The second vessel is under construction at the moment and will be delivered to Flinter B.V. by the end of February/beginning of March 2009. The orderbook is furthermore consisting of four 8200 ton dry cargo vessels for Danser/Wagenborg Shipping B.V. in Delfzijl and a 2300 m3 maintenance hopper dredger for UK Dreging in Cardiff, Wales, UK.
