BN317, m.v. Blue Sea launched
At BARKMEIJER SHIPYARDS, on Friday the 23rd of May 2008 at 14.30 the coaster “Blue Sea” has been launched successfully. The vessel is built on account of TRISTAR SHIPPING B.V. in Kollumerzwaag, Holland. The vessel will be equipped for unrestricted navigation and transport of all kinds of dry cargoes. Furthermore, the vessel is laid out for the carriage of containers. The naming ceremony has taken place prior to the successful launch. The ship’s sponsor is Mrs. Minke Willemsen, wife of one of the directors of Tristar Shipping B.V.

The m.v. “Blue Sea” is the fifteenth in this successful series of 4,500 DWT general cargo vessels built by Barkmeijer Shipyards. Subsequently to this successful launch, the hull will be transported to Lemmer for final outfitting and commissioning. Barkmeijer Shipyards has planned the delivery for beginning July 2008. The “Blue Sea” will be propelled by a MAK engine, type 6M25 running on gas oil, driving a controllable pitch propeller of 3000 mm. via a reduction gearbox. The hold is box shaped and equipped with two movable bulkheads. Barkmeijer has several dry cargo vessels for Dutch owners on order for deliveries until the beginning of 2012. Furthermore a maintenance dredger is on order for the Cardiff (Wales) based UK Dredging for delivery in the second quarter of 2010.
